Where movement finds meaning

Integrated logistics solutions
that connect Africa's trade with the world.

Because moving cargo is about more than ships, rail, roads and terminals. It's about ensuring families can buy food, manufacturers receive the materials they need, businesses grow, and communities prosper.
Our Purpose is to make a positive difference in Africa's trade with the world, touching lives of the communities in which we operate.

Working across industries

Grindrod has grown from a small operation, founded in 1910 into a JSE-listed company represented in more than 20 countries. We move cargo by road and rail to our terminal operations and on to global markets, providing integrated logistics solutions for customers across industries and across the trade corridors of southern and eastern Africa.

message from the ceo

mr Kwazi Mabaso

2025 was an exceptional year for Grindrod. Despite a challenging operating environment, our teams delivered record performance demonstrating discipline, resilience, and strategic focus.

Our terminals teams broke records in Matola, and Richards Bay and our ships agency, logistics and clearing & forwarding teams continued to provide exceptional service to our customers. The Rail team are working hard to finalise the rail open-access agreement following the 2025 slot allocation.

We achieved our strongest safety results to date, ending the year with an all‑time low LTIFR of 0.16 and, most importantly, zero fatalities. This reflects the commitment and vigilance of every employee living our safety culture (Bhasobha) every day.

With our strategic reset complete, we are now firmly in an execution-led growth phase.

This remarkable performance is even more encouraging considering the operational disruptions we faced late last year, including the temporary suspension of rail operations and port activity due to the closure of the Lebombo Border.

We are pleased to report that operations in Maputo and Matola have returned to normal, and we have seen substantial recovery.
