For our customers
Industries we serve
The sectors that move Africa's economy
We handle cargo for customers across mining, agriculture, energy and project cargo. It begins with understanding what each customer needs, then working with governments and local authorities, investing in infrastructure, and lining up our business units to find the most direct route to market along the trade corridors of sub-Saharan Africa.

Mining
We have long-standing relationships with mining houses and commodity traders, moving coal, iron ore, copper, manganese, chrome and ferrochrome to and from our terminals in southern Africa by road, rail and sea. Cargo is bagged, containerised or moved in bulk, and our terminals handle the rest: storage, cargo flow, container packing, ship loading, stevedoring, clearing and forwarding, stock management and rail scheduling.

Agriculture
From the farm, cold store, sugar mill and grain silo, we keep supply chains moving. Citrus, sugar and grains are transported by road to our container depots, where reefer plug facilities help maintain the integrity and freshness of temperature-sensitive cargo throughout the journey. We also provide grain bagging services, ensuring products are efficiently prepared for storage, handling and export. By connecting production points to global markets with care and reliability, we help customers deliver quality products to their destinations on time and in optimal condition.
New Energy commodities
The world is shifting from coal-fired power and petrol engines to sustainable energy, a decisive part of tackling climate change.
Lithium, cobalt, nickel, graphite and vanadium go into steel alloys, turbines, nuclear reactors, batteries, biogas and solar cells. Mined in Africa ,these commodities are traded globally for the manufacturing of sustainable energy sources. This will provide socio economic opportunities for people on the African continent.
We have a long track record with the mining sector: working with stakeholders, investing in infrastructure and opening new routes to market.

No project is too big or too complex. We pull together our in-house logistics and specialist providers to deliver the hardest operations, moving locomotives across borders by road and sea, delivering equipment on barges to expand berths and dredge the Maputo port channel, beach-landing cargo in East Africa, and running one-off containerised loads across borders. From planning to delivery, we handle every logistical detail and all the documentation.

Reliable logistics support for the oil and gas industry, where timing, safety and compliance are critical. Grindrod provides integrated ships agency, project cargo and cross-border logistics services to support offshore, exploration, production and energy projects across Africa.
